I have long felt the sting of Martha's rebuke, not because I suffer so much from "Martha Syndrom," ie. oughts and shoulds--"the work needs to be done and Mary SHOULD be helping me--it's not fair, I would LOVE to just sit at the feet of the Lord, too--but how then do we eat?" In fact, I have spent a great deal of my life dodging work that needs to be done for supposedly "higher" causes. But even if I'm a lousy Martha, I most definitely see her point!
